The Department of Political Science at Shri Shiv Chhatrapati College of Arts, Commerce & Science, Junnar, affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune, is recognized as one of the most active and progressive departments within the university. The department was founded and shaped under the visionary leadership of Dr. Kantilal Purane, the former Head, whose tireless efforts laid a strong academic foundation and inspired generations of students. This legacy was carried forward with great dedication by Dr. Rahul Pandit, who further enriched the department’s academic environment through innovative initiatives and student engagement. Currently, the department is dynamically headed by Dr. Abhijit Patil, under whose guidance the department continues to grow in line with the goals of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

A range of co-curricular activities such as group discussions, political news writing contests, career guidance sessions for competitive examinations like UPSC and MPSC, and participation in intercollegiate competitions are regularly organized to support overall student development. At the postgraduate level, the student seminar system plays a vital role in cultivating research aptitude and effective communication skills.
