Department of Zoology was established in 1984. It provides an opportunity for economically poor rural students to develop their career in field of Academics, Social Services and Research.

The vision of this department is to provide good quality education at Under graduate and Post graduate levels, ensuring high academic performance by the students; motivate and train students in the field of Research and Biodiversity Conservation. Also to make students aware of leading global problems including Pollution & exploitation so that they can contribute their efforts to reduce or minimize such problems in future.

Department is developed in to full – fledged Research Centre contributing in fields of Nanotechnology, Material Sciences, Biodiversity and Entomology. This department has received funds from UGC and DST – FIST. Also it has received research grants from ISRO, DRDO, UGC, MFD, and DST.
